    Things to bring and wear

·         A non-slip mat, a small cushion and a light covering for relaxation.

·         Wear comfortable clothing (fitness wear or leggings andT-shirt or track suit)

·         Have some warm clothing ready for relaxation

·         Optional - eye mask or pillow, water bottle, pen and note-book.

·        An empty stomach! ( A light meal at least 2 hours before is ideal)

Things to remember when doing Yoga

·        Breathe through your nose unless told otherwise.

·        Enjoy your Yoga and remember to go slowly. There is no competition and no prizes for best postures!

·        Expect to discover that your body is becoming more supple, stronger and fitter. You may also discover greater peace of mind.

·        Become aware of your body and learn to ‘listen’ to what it says and respond positively to what it tells you. Each one of us is unique. Your progress will depend on your general level of fitness and your age.

·        Try to practice at home as much as you can, making sure your body has warmed up. Just 15 minutes per day will make a difference.

·        Breathing exercises are better practised in the morning and the postures may be easier in the evenings when the body is more flexible.

·        You may experience some muscle stiffness when you first start to practice Yoga. Keep your muscles moving and it will soon pass.

·        Be aware of your recovery rate and expect it to improve. Be aware of any changes to your senses - improved hearing, sight and smell and more sensitive touch.

·        After relaxation slowly stretch into complete consciousness. Make sure you are fully awake before driving or operating machinery.

     Yoga in your everyday life

·         Be calm and peaceful in your thoughts.

·         Be positive in your life and think vibrant health.

·         Try to read some books on Yoga.

·         See the good in others and remember what ‘Yoga’ means.

Daily Practice

·        Find time to practice at home.

·        Be aware of your posture during the day and make improvements!

Yoga can be as simple as practising 3 conscious breaths while driving the car or standing  in the supermarket queue!

·  Let your Yoga practice be light and enjoyable by keeping it simple!
